Prepare for an enhanced version of the PlayStation 4 to arrive this year. Sony has continued to update the leading console to include backwards support, graphics enhancements, and now a faster system capable of 4K graphics. The updated system would have a higher-clocked processor, twice the number of graphics processing units, and faster memory. It appears that games will require explicit 4K support and must also be fully compatible with the original PS4. So while this means that older games won’t automatically get advanced capabilities, it means that there’s no risk that the console could get split (think Sega 32X).
